44°N recently helped organized Parishvhille's 1st ever Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by the Parishville Amvets and Parishville United Methodist Church in cooporation with Parishville Town Beach. There were approximately 45 kids that enjoyed looking for eggs followed by a story and snack.A Brief History.
Wedding/Event Planning ...As a lifelong residents of Northern New York, husband and wife team Jeff and Joann Yette have come to appreciate the quality of living the North Country has to offer. Through-out their careers, both have been involved in different aspects of marketing, design, catering/baking, event planning, fund-raising, and live entertainment. Joan is an accomplished baker and cake decorator creating beautiful Victorian style wedding cakes and whimsical character cakes. This unique combination of experiences has established working relationships with a wide variety of area vendors. Through contacts and business associates, Jeff and Joann have been asked to lend their skills to many weddings, reunions, fundraising events, and celebrations of all kinds.
Live Entertainment ...
Throughout their travels, they have often crossed paths with old friend and colleagues that have since left the area to pursue careers in performing arts. By coincidence, one trip to Texas put the Yettes just over an hour away from a concert that Jason Sutter was playing with the band Smash Mouth. The Yette family went to the show which started the thought process ... "it's sad to think that we had to travel half-way across the U.S.A. to see a Potsdam native showcase his talent." This spark was later rekindled when Phil Hurley returned to Potsdam for a class reunion which lead to an impromptu gig sitting in with a local bar band. Over the months to follow, Jeff began working with former classmates and friends to put together a "Bringing Home the Talent" campaign to showcase area natives that have since left the area, but return home from time to time to visit family and friends.
In addition to promoting the talent of others, Jeff is an established musician. He has been performing in area bands since mid 1993 and lending his knowledge of music and AV equipment as a Disc Jockey and Master of Ceremonies since 1990.
Design ...Jeff is a formally trained fine artist and an award-winning graphic designer and web designer. Jeff spent 5 years as the lead designer for a Northern New York weekly publication and had freelanced as a website designer since 1998. Jeff believes in clean and simple designs that deliver information in a concise and quick manner.
What's with the name ...
If you ever have had the pleasure, or more honestly, the pain of trying to name an organization, you'll know where we're coming from. It seemed to be virtually impossible to find a name that touched upon all of the bases that we cover. We're more than just a band, we're more than just event planners, we're more than just web designers ... we seemed to be more than we could put into words. The name 44 Degrees North was originally used for a band that Jeff was a member of, and it was for this he originally designed the "Euro" style logo. The name itself is reference to the line of latitude that passes through Potsdam, NY. The name just sort of stuck and the logo seems to appeal to many different people ... so why not.
This unique combination of talent, industry contacts and local business relationships lead to the creation of 44 Degrees North Promotions, or more simply, 44°N ... a Promotion company that is well versed in event planning and performing arts!
